Fall Wedding Music

Looking for some great fall wedding music? Check out the two fall-themed CDs in our collection for some inspiration.

Harvest includes crisp fall favorites October Moon and Turn, Turn, Turn and popular processional favorite Ashokan Farewell.

Autumn features reflective, peaceful melodies like September Song, Song of Thanksgiving, Fall Leaves Lullaby and He Shall Feed His Flock. The entire disc can be played as your ceremony prelude, or works beautifully as dinner music.

All songs are also available for individual download, and sheet music is available for many of the tracks.

Have a great week!

Fourth of July Wedding Music - Patriotic Wedding Songs

Getting married this weekend? A lot of people choose the Fourth of July holiday weekend for their wedding because it allows for an extra day of festivities or travel for their family and friends.

If you're looking for some classy arrangements of patriotic music to work into your July 4th wedding, check out our Celebrate America collection. Some favorites for weddings include Ashokan Farewell (great for a processional or recessional), God Bless the USA, America the Beautiful, Home Sweet Home, Simple Gifts and Battle Hymn (seriously...it's reverent, not at all cheesy and will likely bring a tear to your Grandpa's eye).

Congratulations if you're getting hitched this weekend, and have a great Fourth!

Songs to Avoid for your Wedding

NPR recently posted a piece on their blog about the least appropriate wedding songs ever.

Check out the articles section of our site for both inappropriate ceremony songs and a helpful DO NOT PLAY list for your reception.

Canon in D

If you're one of the few people in the world who hasn't seen this yet, here's comedian Rob Paravonian ranting about his ever growing dislike of the popular wedding song, Canon in D:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM

Despite this, we love Pachelbel's Canon for it's versatility -- it sounds beautiful on piano, organ, guitar, any kind of strings, flute, and more.

We have two versions available on our site:

1. The first is a traditional arrangement for piano and strings. It can be found on our A Day to Remember, Volume I CD, and sheet music is available for both versions:  http://www.myweddingmusic.com/WeddingMusicCDs/ADayToRemember.asp.

The second version can be found on our Beach Wedding CD:

Hope your week is off to a great start!

The State of Weddings

Here's a great opinion piece from a blogger at The Oregonian that talks about the state of weddings today and how people are customizing everything to fit their vision for the perfect day.

There's a similar article in our planning tips section that talks about how to customize your wedding music to fit your style.

Unique Wedding Song Ideas

A blog post on WeddingBee talks about a really cool way to choose the music for your wedding from a nontraditional source. In this case: video games. Check it out: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/09/18/wedding-ceremony-music-ideas/.

Many video games (especially older ones) feature background music that's based on a classical motif. For some tips on how to choose your own unique wedding songs, check out some of our planning tips articles.

Have a great weekend!

Canon in F

The chord progression that is the basis for Pachelbel's classic wedding standard, Canon in D, is also the root of many, many songs that we hear every day. To see what we mean, check out this comedian's YouTube rant.

If you're looking for a great alternative to Canon in D, visit our A Day to Remember, Volume II page and listen to track 5, Canon in F. After years of playing "Taco Bell" at so many weddings, we wrote this piece to use as a wedding processional.
